Philip Dyer

Director

​Philip Dyer founded Civikas after 25 years working with a wide range of public and private sector companies in the built environment sectors. "I realised my interest and skills were in turning ideas into action" and we do this by bringing people together around a common purpose, creating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver at pace, and helping to manage the transition to new ways of working that embed lasting value. It's complicated, hard work, close to the front line, but ultimately incredibly rewarding when a project or program delivers lasting change.

Lucy Stewart

Systems Designer

Lucy has 10 years of experience as a researcher and strategist and is an expert in service design. Lucy led design agency Snook's Thriving Planet team, developing subject expertise in renewable energy. She worked as a Service Designer and Participation Lead at Worthing Council and has contributed to developing sustainable financing with NatWest.  She also works with Arup as a researcher and designer on climate adaptation.

Emma Turnbull

Project Assistant

Emma has over 10 years’ experience in producing large-scale events including the hugely successful TEDxNewcastle and Thinking Digital Conference. Emma brings her project managing skills to Civikas and supports the company operations and administration. Outside of work, Emma enjoys hiking and running if the weather permits, and recreating Greek style dishes from the time she lived in Corfu.​

Where Civikas fit into your organisation

We work primarily in the operational layer in an organisation.

We translate business objectives or strategies into tangible business propositions, programmes and projects that can be implemented with resources drawn from across the business and in collaboration with partners and suppliers.

​

To do this we interface most frequently with teams delivering your core business services and teams driving strategy linked to business objectives.

How we can work with you

We are typically hired by council or combined authority, a consultancy or think tank on the basis of my experience, and I am flexible in terms of how we engage and work with you. Every situation is different, but recent assignments have been a blend of the following:

  • Short-term (days): for example, providing facilitation, team-based training, coaching, mentoring and guidance when required.

  • Medium term (weeks): providing specialist support on a project-by-project basis, as part of, or managing a team.

  • Long term (months): interim role, for example as a project or program director, or SRO.

​

We can contract directly with you, through a framework provider, or umbrella company. Whatever works best for you.
